Monroe Presents at VSU Court Reporter’s Workshop
On Saturday, March 14, 2015, Jennifer C. Monroe presented at the VSU Spring 2015 Court Reporter’s Workshop on the applicability of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) to court reporters. Due to recent changes in the law, court reporters are now required to comply with HIPAA and are required to enter into business associate agreements (“BAAs”). Jennifer discussed the specific HIPAA requirements court reporters are now subject to.
About the Workshop:
Court reporters must keep up-to-date with the knowledge, skills, and tools of court reporting to maintain excellence in the court reporting profession. This workshop provides opportunities for individual growth and development, interaction, and exchange of ideas as you learn new approaches to work responsibilities, functions, and relationships in the profession.
Turner Center Hosts Successful Presenters Series Show
Congratulations to The Turner Center for the Arts for putting together a fantastic 2014-2015 Presenter Series season! Langdale Vallotton Attorneys Judge Mock Trial Competition
Langdale Vallotton, LLP attorneys Tina Folsom, Katie Gonos, and Amy Holbrook served as judges for the 2015 Valdosta Region 19 Mock Trial Competition on January 31, 2015. Teams from high schools all over South Georgia competed in the regional competition, and several will go on to compete at the district and state levels. Our attorneys enjoyed spending time with these students, many of whom are aspiring attorneys, and giving them feedback and encouragement for the future. Lowndes County Poised to add Deep South Sanitation as Trash Provider
The Lowndes County Commission signaled Thursday that it would allow another trash hauler in addition to Advanced Disposal for county residents. Langdale Vallotton client, Deep South Sanitation, will continue to provide quality solid waste service to Lowndes County residents. Congratulations to Deep South for persevering in this long journey to serve our community. Thanks to our county commissioners for making the right call to support local businesses.

Daniel Schert selected to SORT…
Langdale Vallotton, LLP partner Daniel Schert was recently selected to be a member of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce Special Ombudsman Response Team (SORT), a rapid-responder that helps enhance the pro-business environment in Valdosta-Lowndes County. The Chamber of Commerce assembled SORT in 2010 as part of the IMPACT 2012 Business Action Plan, and its members act as ombudsmen between businesses and local governments to identify obstacles in the business development process and facilitate mutually beneficial resolutions.
